Vitamin C Deficiency
Deficiency in Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) causes fatigue and haemorrhage, particularly around hair follicles. Historically, mariners on long journeys suffered from the condition, as they had no fresh fruits or vegetables. Most Western diets should have enough vitamin C to prevent Scurvy, and it is found in foods such as potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, blackcurrants, strawberries, as well as other fruits and green, and root vegetables.

Signs of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) Deficiency
- Fatigue, feeling unwell, sore joints
- Haemorrhage and easily bruised
- Bleeding spots on the skin around hair follicles
- Bleeding gums
- Lips may be cracked and particularly red or sore looking, especially at the corners of the mouth
Eating a well balanced diet should provide the body with plenty of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid).
