Cystitis is an inflammation of the bladder, usually caused by bacterial infection. Although blood in urine should always be treated seriously, it is a much more urgent symptom in children, and should be properly investigated.

Interstitial Cystitis Signs and Symptoms
- Fever
- Backache
- A general feeling of unwell
- Urine passed frequently, with need to get up at night to pass urine
- Passing urine cause searing or burning pain
- Ache in the lower part of the abdomen, which can be persistent or worse after urination
- Urine may be dark, cloudy or stained with blood: this can be the color of blood, but may only appear to be slightly pinkish
