Signs of Interstitial Cystitis

Cystitis is an inflammation of the bladder, usually caused by bacterial infection. Although blood in urine should always be treated seriously, it is a much more urgent symptom in children, and should be properly investigated.

Urinary Tract Infection

Interstitial Cystitis Signs and Symptoms

  • Fever
  • Backache
  • A general feeling of unwell
  • Urine passed frequently, with need to get up at night to pass urine
  • Passing urine cause searing or burning pain
  • Ache in the lower part of the abdomen, which can be persistent or worse after urination
  • Urine may be dark, cloudy or stained with blood: this can be the color of blood, but may only appear to be slightly pinkish
